Respect and CompassionWhen Donna Shapka talks about her life, she talks about more than just her professional role as a mortgage associate – she talks about her love of horses, specifically the Working Cow Horses. “Four years ago, I found the sport of Working Cow Horse, and it is my passion. Working Cow Horse competition is scored on training, discipline, control of one single cow at a time and requires speed and the ability to adjust to a constantly changing situation every moment. “You push through barriers; you learn about yourself”
“I see a parallel with mortgages. The mortgage products, lenders and the clients’ needs are challenging, changing all the time and I need to change and learn all the time too. I’m in a state of flux, just like when I’m riding”. “To succeed, both horse and rider need to have training, talent and excellent coaching. The most important element is what we call “heart” in the horse world. You have to want to continually learn and succeed more than you want air. You put it all together, and you apply your knowledge and abilities to do the best you can.
The same is true with my business life. I continually strive to provide the very best service to each and every one of my clients, no matter how challenging the circumstances may be. I believe in treating people as I would like to be treated, with respect and compassion.
